I'LL SEE YOU ON THE OBSERVATION DECK!

[And he basically sprints there, likely beating Mettaton if he doesn't hoof it.]

[Mettaton rushes about as much as he usually does at first! But...he slows down the closer he gets to the observation deck, and there's a little regret in what he's planning to tell Papyrus.

Maybe Kaworu was right, and he didn't want to share because he was frightened of the implications. Maybe he shouldn't have done this.

Still, when he finally makes it to the deck and he sees Papyrus standing there, a rush of warmth assures him that he'd made the right decision. This was going to work out.

Once he's near enough, Mettaton gives a little wave as he closes the rest of the distance. Hah. Now the sadness is visible.

So he does what any rational person would do and immediately hugs Papyrus, pushing his face into the skeleton's shoulder to hide his expression.]

Hello, beautiful. Thank you for coming.

[Papyrus was waiting for him, not even really watching the stars. His eyesockets were on the door, eager as always, brightening even more when Mettaton showed up.

He didn't even have time to ask what was going on before the handsome robot was hugging him tight with those noodly arms and being sweet as ever. Papyrus is quick to hug back, enjoying the little thrill that always coursed through him when he remembered, once again, that he was dating this wonderful person.]

Of course I came! I always have time for you.

Are you okay? You seem a little... less sparkly today!

[Mettaton smiles a little. Having someone proclaim that they will always have time for him is just...it's really the greatest.

Especially right now.

But he does have to face what he did, and talk to Papyrus about today. So he pulls back, his smile now a little wan.]

No, I suppose I am not too sparkly today, am I? I've had a very trying...[Month]...day.

[He pauses.]

...Oh, sweetie. I did something not-very-nice today!! I lost my temper at Frisk and now I feel awful!!

[What kind of monster is he?! Not a very good one, apparently.]

[Papyrus does look a bit anxious at that. Frisk is such a dear friend to them both, he assumes, and he'd hate to think of people he cares about not getting along.]

What happened?

[Papyrus might regret asking for clarification, because as soon as he's given leeway, Mettaton lets it all out.]

It started with that awful boy, Kaworu!! He...he said things about me, that I substitute the love of my fans for the love of those close to me and he accused me of fearing true personal connections!!

[It may have been true at some point, but clearly Mettaton has absolutely no qualms with sharing it now. If he weren't in such a state, he might actually be surprised how easily he's sharing right now.]

I wanted to talk to Frisk about it, but they--it wasn't their fault, they were trying to explain the little rat's actions to me, and I insinuated...I insinuated they didn't care about me at all! I know that's not true, but I said it nonetheless, and they haven't responded!

[At some point, his face had ended up hidden against Papyrus' shoulder once more. He's so frustrated he could scream!!]

[Oh nooo. The dating manual didn't say anything about this! What do you do when your robot ghost boyfriend gets in fights with people you like??

Oh... that's... that's terrible! You poor thing!

[He rubs Mettaton's back, looking roughly 500% lost.]

I don't think they meant any harm! Kaworu has a very unique way of looking at things, and Frisk has had a lot of bad things happen lately, and I'm sure they still think you're great! You are great, and so are they!!

[PLEASE DON'T BE MAD AT EACH OTHER GUYS HE LIKES ALL THREE OF YOU VERY MUCH.]

[Maybe it was because he knew that he screwed up with Frisk, or maybe it was just because Mettaton tended to give Papyrus a lot of slack when it came to saying disagreeable things.

Either way, he's not overly insulted by the skeleton straining to defend all three sides of this confrontation. It's admirable. It's right.

And it was good to be comforted physically. Mettaton appreciated that quite a lot.]

I know Frisk didn't. I'd rather not think on the other matter. I'll simply have to apologize to them for my awful behavior. They have been through a lot of negative things and I never wanted to add to it.

[SEE? Even 500% lost, just being there is helping, Papyrus!! Success?!]

[GOOD ENDING GET. Papyrus is feeling a little more comfortable about this already.]

I don't think your behavior was awful! It's okay to get grumpy and shout at people or fight them, as long as they still know you care about them.

[After all, his relationships with Sans and Undyne were hardly peaceful at times.]

After all, that's part of what makes us monsters!

[That's pretty much enough to bring Mettaton down from his explosion of emotions and bad feelings. At least enough that he pulls slightly away from Papyrus, a small smile returning to his face.]

Oh, you really are a sweetheart! Thank you for coming here, and for understanding. You are right after all; that is part of what makes us monsters!!
